Temperament

Gentle, even-keeled, and quietly sociable: Birmans follow their people amiably, greet guests with polite interest, and coexist beautifully with children, dogs, and other cats. Generally sound: screened lines matter for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM); occasional kidney concerns (PKD screening) and hairball management in season. Lifespan commonly 14–16 years.
